About Prop 429
What is an override?
An override is approved by a school district’s voters to generate additional revenue through property tax to support local schools above and beyond what’s provided by the state. They are approved for a period of seven years. Proposition 429 is NOT a new tax increase, it is a renewal of an override that has been in place since 2014. Without renewal, TVUSD would have to phase it out over three years and cut an estimated $2.3 million from its budget.
How the Funds are Used
If approved, the locally-raised funds will continue to support smaller class sizes, teacher salaries, career and technical education, elementary STEAM, elementary physical education, school nurses, and more.
