Tanque Verde Unified School District is recognized as one of the premier school districts in Arizona. The many accomplishments earned by our students and staff in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities are a direct reflection of this community's longstanding commitment to education through continued voter support of past budget continuations. 

The District's success strengthens property values and helps ensure our graduates are civicminded, capable, and prepared to contribute positively to society. Your YES vote on this budget continuation will NOT increase your property tax rate. This measure continues the current level of funding already in place. Continued funding is essential to maintaining the programs our community values most and that have contributed to our schools' exceptional success. This budget continuation supports Advanced Placement (AP), Career & Technical Education (CTE), STEAM programs, Performing and Visual Arts, Physical Education, Libraries, Nurses, and Gifted Programs. 

Without sufficient voter support, these programs and services could face significant reductions or possible elimination. We strongly encourage our community to vote YES to approve the budget continuation and help preserve the high level of educational excellence that benefits our students, schools, and community.

As the proud principal of Tanque Verde High School: the highest-performing traditional public high school in Arizona, and as a proud neighbor who calls this community home, I see every day what your investment in our schools makes possible.

I watch our students earn prestigious scholarships to universities across the country. I also watch students leave our campus with industry certifications, technical skills, and high-paying job offers in the trades. Every one of those success stories begins with a community that believes in its children.

Proposition 429 is not a new tax. It simply continues the local funding our community has supported for years to protect the opportunities that help our students thrive: excellent teachers, smaller class sizes, career and technical education, advanced academics, the arts, and so much more.

Whether our graduates become engineers, teachers, doctors, welders, electricians, business owners, or military leaders, they are the future of Tanque Verde. Investing in them strengthens our workforce, our economy, and the community we all love.

As both your principal and your neighbor, I respectfully ask you to join me in voting YES on Proposition 429.

 This November, you are being asked to vote YES on Proposition 429, an override measure that will continue to support the students in the Tanque Verde Unified School District (TVUSD). The override is not a tax increase, it is a continuation of the local funding that has been in place since 2014. 

As a former TVUSD Governing Board member for almost eight years, I can attest to the importance of the override funding. All four TVUSD schools offer art, music, physical education, library and health services with the support of override dollars. And as a parent of three children in the District, I know these programs help to provide a well rounded educational experience for our students. 

In addition, these programs increase the property values within the District, and make Tanque Verde a very desirable location in which to reside. Without the continuation of the override, TVUSD will be forced to phase out these programs. 

I cannot overstate the importance of the District’s override funds, and I ask for your support by voting YES on Proposition 429, the continuation of the TVUSD override.

 The quality of our school district and the efficient management of the district budget are important to me as a local business owner and job creator. By utilizing its resources wisely, the Tanque Verde Unified School District demonstrates that it serves as a financial steward. No matter their frugal practices, the allocated resources are limited. The district does not have the benefit of a large commercial tax base nor does it qualify for many federal program dollars. And, at 48th in the nation, Arizona does not provide sufficient, consistent funding to our public schools. 

Our schools need our continued community support. We can ensure our local schools remain high quality by continuing the current budget override.  All funds from the TVUSD M&O Override remain in our community, directly supporting our schools and our students, with the benefit of supporting a dynamic community. I am confident that my tax dollars are being utilized efficiently and effectively, and I approve of the district budget override.

I support our local schools because I believe they are excelling in the business of educating our students.  I urge you to vote YES to continue the TVUSD M&O Budget Override.

Dedicated district leadership and staff have helped propel countless students further down the road to becoming productive and optimistic adults…Adults that make the world a better and brighter place!!!

We believe in and have seen the value of a well rounded education and its impact on individuals, families and communities. In fact, this is why we continue to volunteer in this great school district. Excellence in education is part of the Tanque Verde tradition and history.  Our schools are among the very best in the State of Arizona! And this in turn, makes our community a GREAT place to raise children and a GREAT place to enjoy retirement.

I am a retired financial executive and farmer who supports the Tanque Verde Unified School District override. I don’t have kids in our schools anymore, but I recognize the key role that quality education plays in supporting the community and the students who live here.

So frequently when speaking with people who are considering our community for employment or call it home, the question of the quality of schools is raised. The value of our homes and the development of business are linked directly to the quality of our schools.

As retirees, we need quality services, and we want to maintain the value of our homes. The override will help us on both counts.

The override will support programs that are essential to the education of our community’s next generation of leaders who will help boost our economy and development.

Tanque Verde has made great strides over the past several years with high student college enrollment and excellent placement in vocational colleges. For the health, long-term success, and future of our community, please vote yes on Proposition 429 to continue the override.
